Tell a Friend?
I am grateful that I got to experience this learning in a working model; to have every day another example of how it works and is applied in real life. This appreciation extends to Aspen, David and Sam as their warm, friendly and enthusiastic attitudes play a great part.
They walk their talk.

Any Problems?
Please Tell us
It's rare to meet people who change the way you think in a short space of time but Dave, Aspen and Sam did that for us. With time to talk and contemplate, we had somehow answered many of our questions about what we wanted to achieve in our lives.

Spring Grass at Semilla Besada

A Dryland Permaculture Design seminar offers you new skills in creating sustainable landscape designs in dryland environments. Whether a certified designer or a landowner these pivotal insights are essential ingredients for a sustainable design system in brittle landscapes.

Permaculture in brittle landscapes

Permaculture's greatest success is in temperate and tropical environments. Although the principles hold good, there are certain practices which if transfered to dryland environments can actually bring about environmental degradation.

Seventy per cent of the world's landmass is brittle and particularly prone to desertification. However, the implications of this distinction on Permaculture design, is not common knowledge. Understanding these leading-edge insights is an essential part of every designer's tool box.

Sustainable landscape design

Sustainability is also part of this toolbox. Although, how this is achieved in a brittle landscape is different from a temperate or tropical environment. For example, leaving things to nature can have unexpected and undesirable consequences. How sustainable landscape design is achieved in a brittle landscape is dependent upon understanding a number of crucial factors.

Over thirty years

These factors have been part of sustainable land design and management for over thirty years and have been reversing desertification in three continents. Large areas of land suffering from salination, reduced productivity with attendant social and economic collapse have been restored to health. These managed lands are producing food as well as out-competing conservation areas in the creation of healthy wildlife habitats.
