All farms were developed to supply the needs of those that lived there. The word subsistence farm means precisely that. However, over the years, brittle landscapes have been developed into unsustainable production farms, and the term subsistence has gained a pejorative meaning.

At Semilla Besada, we are using our research work to create a new understanding of the term subsistence farm - one that sustainably meets the needs of those that live there. The newsletter captures the seasonal developments on the farm giving readers a rare insight into food production, land conservation, animal husbandry and sustainable economics.
