Wild birds at The Lodge

At first glance, the maquis and garigue landscape of the Alpujarras, in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada mountain range in Andalucia, seems an unlikely environment for a host of indigenous and migratory birds. This area does not reveal its secrets to the casual observer, but for the dedicated birdwatcher, there is a wealth of bird watching opportunities.

The birds that can be found around The Lodge fall into two categories: residents, those that can be found here on a year-round basis and those that are migratory.
